Breeding ghost shrimp?

Has anyone bread ghost shrimp? They are cheap enough but I was wondering if it would be worth trying to breed them so I don't have to keep buying them...the torture of watching the person in the LFS trying to catch 15-20 for me each time is just so frustrating half the time I'm just like...that's fine I'll just take however many you have in there now cause I get tired of watching the person (although at times it is funny).

If anyone does or has bread them let me know how it went and what you did.

mine just seam to get little bunches of eggs under there butts, and about 3 weeks after they dissepear little shrimp start appearing. i dont do anything to control, initiate or prevent it, it just happens.

This shrimp is not as easy to propagate in the aquarium as most smaller algae eating shrimp of the Caridina or Neocaridina genus, since the Freshwater Glass Shrimp produces free floating larvae that need to be fed micro-food items before they molt into post-larva and assume a benthic (= on the ground) lifestyle. In most aquaria the larvae will not find enough food to develop into their next stage and will starve to death. However, in some old, established tanks with a lot of detritus and decomposing plant leaves on the ground the larvae might survive since there will be microorganisms in the water column. This shrimp does not require brackish water for larvae development as some of their cousins that hail from brackish water and marine habitats (such as Palaemonetes pugio and Palaemonetes vulgaris).

Cool, thanks guys...I think I'll get out my old 25 gallon and throw a few in with plants and maybe a betta or a few mollies or something like that, that wont eat them and see what happens, maybe a school of tetras or something who knows HEY sounds like a great reason to start up another tank :Angel: !!

THANKS AGAIN!!! Any one with a couple suggestions about a few smaller fish that would do good in a 25...I'm all up for any ideas I love the variety of opinions you get on this kind of thing and something always jumps out like HEY I GOT TO DO THAT ONE!!!
