I have 2 Hoplos in a 3 ft tank. The female is very fat and the male has built a huge bubble nest.Ive done a big water change with cold rainwater.
Just wondering from those who have bred these(if they spawn):
What the fry eat when hatched?
When to remove the parents?
I read about a yellow floating lid being a trigger to spawning,is this needed?
Any other advise would be appreciated

Neat.

The water change did induce spawning but after the I saw the female eat all the eggs without a wimper from the male.Is it common for Hoplos to take a few goes to get it right??
The eggs are nice and big though, look like the fry might take BBS

The second spawning was much more successful.I used a yellow floating lid for the nest as suggested in a TFH article.I hadnt even noticed them spawning until I was cleaning he tank and the male went crazy.
Ive removed the eggs for artificial hatching

The eggs are quite like cory eggs but less sticky although they are adherent to the lid

How did the fry from this turn out? The OP has not been around for nearly a year but posting just in case as I have a pair of "marble haplos" arriving sometime this week and could use some info on what to feed the fry if I get any.
