Just curious since I'm thinking about maybe making my 30g a neon species tank. Will these guys breed in my aquarium? Can it be done?

Does anyone here have experience breeding neon tetras? If so, please share any information you know. :)

Thanks in advance,

Kieren

ok... neon tetras will only breed with good care.

first off, you need a male and female that is quite old (yet not TOO old).

get a tank, and cover it with newspaper to make it pitch black. they should breed.

then the eggs should hatch within 24 hours.
when they hatch, keep the newspaper on and make sure you take out the parents!

that's all i know, sorry

a friend of mine has a 20 gallon ..he uses it for neon tetras...he got it for his son to do a school project.

maybe it blind luck..but he started out with 10-12 neons he now has 20 or more..and no he never purchased any more..he says he keep getting new babies from time to time..
my guess is he is lucky and his tank is set up just right..the eggs get scattered and fertilized and the babies that make it hide in the plants he has..it is fairly heavily planted..there must also be some sort of food source..as he does not feed fry food.
