Hello fellow hobbyists. I have been keeping fish for over 4 decades. Now I'd like to breed white cloud mountain minnows, which I've never kept until the start of this year. I read books and articles about them and most state it is very easy, feed well and they won't eat the eggs or young. They should start breeding when the temperature gets above 68 degrees.
I have 13 of them in a 12 gallon with a clump of Java moss the size of a football. There are some fat females, I see them chasing each other every now and then, but I've never seen eggs or fry.
They are with some cherry shrimp, and those had a ton of fry now.
The temperature has been 75 to 77 degrees for the past 2 months (it's unheated), I would have hoped for some fry by now but nothing.
Any hints or experiences?

Cherry shrimp are egg eaters.

12 is also a tad small for white clouds. I prefer them in a 20, so they can really swim. I get more fry outside in a 100 gallon tub.

Interesting, almost everything I've read stated that 5 or 10 gal was sufficient to breed them.

Most things will often recommend smaller tanks than those that are often needed. But I would strongly agree with the cherry shrimp being the egg eaters.

Those cute lil shrimp? Amazing. I didn't know that...
I will get some in a separate tank and try again.

Tiny. I able to see them drop only if in a backlit tank. The female drops eggs as she swims along and the male chases and releases milt, so the eggs scatter along the substrate. Newly hatches white clouds are tiny glittery eyelashes.
