brightly colored tetras and glolight tetras

Anything that is "neon" colored is a big red flag for me. The number of fish that have been dyed in the past is fairly large so it's possible that you may be seeing dyed tetras. Otherwise there are also GloFish which are danios with jellyfish genes. Not natural, but not dyed. It's hard to say without a pic.
I think the fish that they inject with dyes are the Glass Fish (or tetra, not sure) and some of the Albino Widow Tetra(?). I think it's a very disturbing act.
The other one is not Glowlight Tetra, although there are a natural variation with them. I think your referring to GloFish as stated above.

I agree. If you like bright colored tetras, there are plenty of naturally colored species to choose from. Glowlights, cardinals, neons, green fires, and columbians immediately come to mind. 
Edit: no, glofish are not dyed. They are genetically manipulated zebra danios. The process causes no discomfort for the fish, but opens up a whole can of worms on the ethical ramifications of genetically modified organisms.... a debate I'm not getting into.

there are also ember tetras which are very small and lovely.
I think glofish danios are cute, but I'd rather have some naturally colorful tetras, honestly. That's just a personal aesthetic preference though; I'm not really taking ethics into account here hahaha

I agree here, it's like having hot pink gravel as a substrate. Just looks kinda.............cheesy to me?
Agreed. Knowing a fish is artificially colored turns me off. Aesthetically I prefer the natural beauty of a cardinal or ember, or congo, or (insert the tetra of your choice).
