What is the difference between a shrimp hatchery and a shrimpery. I do not know much about this, but im guessing that in the shrimpary they breed and in the hatchary you need to supply the eggs or something like that. The shrimpary sounds easier and its cheaper so im leaning towards that. The only advantage i can see for the hatchary is that it will be alot faster, but i really don't know what im talking about. My only use for it would be as a treat for my molllies and i guess to feed fry if they ever breed. What do you guys think i should get?

You know, it's kind of funny because the Shrimpery costs less, but comes with more parts. With the Brine Shrimp Hatchery, you have to supply the vessel, though the entire product costs more than the Shrimpery. I'm thinking that the Hatchery contains more "mix", where the Shimpery contains more parts, but in reality, the Shrimpery contains more mix packets, yet costs less and comes with all the parts.

After looking at the two products for about the fifth time, I'm wondering why there is no mention of an air line and pump with the Shrimpery.

I have used the one where you have to add the pop bottle, but I could never get the shrimp to hatch. I have no idea what I was doing wrong.

You might consider the frozen shrimp or getting them live from the lfs. Maybe its easy to hatch them, but I never could. I'd see if anyone else had success before you buy anything.

The 2 liter bottle kit might hold more water. Also, it needs an air pump.

Jeessshhh...I just use a 32 oz peanut butter jar....add water, salt and shrimp eggs...along with an airstone....and I get shrimp. I have to use them up right away because they don't last more than a few days in that rig, but it works for me when I have fry to feed 3 times a day. I have two such setups going constantly while the fry are in need. As soon as I use one jar up I start another so that it's ready when I use up the other one.

I bought the shrimp eggs online at ebay...got quite a few of them for like 15$. LOTS more than the puny little tube of shrimp eggs I bought at petsmart for like 4$ !

Wow, nice link Harlock!

Yep, that's the same system I use except I syphon the shrimp out with an airline tube....though I do on occasion eats some...lol... :p

I use coffee filters to filter the shrimp before I put them in the tank. Just put the filter over a cottage cheese container with a rubber band. Syphon the shrimp into the coffee filter and rinse with tank water before feeding them to the fish.
