i have a question that may involve brine shrimp, but not totally sure. We have several tanks, we are feeding our females and our fry brine shrimp. Lately we've noticed lil white worms / parasites. Is it possible that its coming from our brine shrimp? we are using the frozen, san francisco brand of brine shrimp if that matters at all. We do the usual water changes. and our tanks have the proper ph levels. can anyone let us know what these worm things could be and where they are coming from? thank you

The little white worms could be nematodes or paramecia. You can get these if there is extra food left over for these little buggers to eat.

Usually they just go away after a while and if your fish are healthy I wouldn't worry about it. Try feeding a little bit less and they will probably be gone soon enough.

Not totally sure, YuccaPatrol, but I'm pretty sure that parmecia (paramecium in singular) are just single celled organisms. You wouldn't be able to see them without a microscope. Did you mean something else?

Yes, they are single celled protists, but they can be up to 0.5mm long and their shape can just be made out without magnification. They would only be seen as tiny rice shaped blobs, but I have seen them in my aquaria when I have fed too much food . . .

These people suggest growing them as fry food: http://www.lfscultures.com/p4.html

If it helps.. the only way we get to see them is when we syphin from the bottom, our syphin canaster magnifies them a bit. also, last night we purchased a fluval filter for one of our 75 gallon tanks, good filter? or not worth the 100 bucks we spent on it?
