Broke thermometer in tank

It was the floating kind and all the little balls used as weight fell to the bottom of the tank. Should I remove them or can I just leave it?

i'd remove them, since fish might consider them food and eating tiny ball bearings can't be good.

the thing i'd actually be more worried about is getting all the glass shards out!

I'd remove them. When this happened to me, I stirred a magnet through the sand and gravel; it worked really well.

I would clean them out.
