Puffed Up...?

Hullo.
Once again I have a slight problem...hoping its not too serious.

One of my female bettas has what looks like a broken nose. Her face is all swollen and her tail is clamped shut. Occasionaly she will swim at the surface and jump out of the water, then go and sit on the bottom hiding in the plants. She isnt gasping for breath, she is eating but just dosnet seem interested in anything.

In the 4 foot tank we have:
A futher 5 female bettas
1 RTBS
3 Clown Loaches
12 5 lined barba
3 USDC

Temp is 26.4
25% Water change every sunday morning
General allround test...levels are bang on
Ammonia is 0 (just to be on the safe side we added an ammonia remover)
PH varies from 6.8-7.2
Running an eheim filter, 1 air stone and 1 powerball pump.

All the other fish are swimming around quite happily, flaring if there is any chance of food...!!

2 weeks ago my friend came to stay with 2 dogs. There is a lid on the tank (tight fitting) and there has been 3 water changes since then. We did a 50% change this evening as we were worried about her.

I added a load of new plants 2 weeks ago and split them between the two tanks.

I have links to some photos of her and also a test strip (the pic was taken just outside the 1 minute time scale).

I really like my female bettas and its breaking my heart to see her like this.

Any ideas...?

Thanks in advance,

Claire

PS...ignore the PH value on the test strip..its way out we have a seperate test for that.

Also...we are treating the tank with Protozin (protozoacide/fungicide) and are on day 3 (dose on days 1,2,3 & 6).

when the dogs were over did they scare the fish at all because maybe she tried to jump out of the tank to get away from the dogs and hit her nose on the lid.

The other thing that im worried about is tha tail clamping up. My betta has never done that and she has tried to jump out of her tank plenty of times.

I can't say what is wrong with her but she is not shaped like a healthy young female should be... she seems to be humpbacked and other wise bloated

can't say for sure... what it is but over all she looks like she is ailing even with out your description of what she is acting like

Hi,
The dogs did go and look at the tank but they were more scared than the fish...the bettas came straight over to see the dogs (all 6 of them) and the dogs provided the weekends entertainment.

She has been like this for a few days now and its getting more worrying.

We fed her this morning and she ate fine, chased off a couple of the other bettas and then did the "flippy-out-the-tank-go-sit-on-the-bottom" thing she has been doing since yesterday.

Checked on the other females and their colour is vibrant, they are nosey and eating like piggies.

Her head has gone all patchy now....
Any ideas on what to do...? ie not feed her..?

Thanks again

Claire
