Notopterus notoperus--NOT THE P. AFER I just got one of these at about 12in. long I need some basic info on him I haven't brought it home yet it's still at my job it looks just like a solid black clown knife no poka dots at all does anybody know anything about these fish including how aggressive they are the meaner the better

Do some googles.
They generally will only accept live foods. Maybe frozen in time. A sand or other fine substrate would work best. Hope you have a large aquarium, they can get 40". They are very nocturnal and reclusive. Althought they are predatory, they are somewhat timid and should not be kept with aggressive fish.

You are correct. Sorry. Not a lot on your fish on the net, except that it does get a lot smaller than the others, somewhere around 16". Probably, eating habits and other requirements would be very close to the others.
