Hi guys,
i have a thin film of brown algae on the glass of my ten gallon tank and it seems to spread. It is just a film on the glass and is also visible on the top of the leaves of my anubias nanas. I can scrub/scratch the glass but the ones on the plants are pretty hard to do so without damaging the plant. Will buying a couple of ottos (O. Affinis?) help reduce the amount of this brown algae on the class and top of the leaves? Thanks

plants :

DIY jello CO2
anubias nana 4
hairgrass
HC in a week
5 marimo moss balls

Go with a bristlenose pleco...I put one in my 10g just to grow it out, a week later no algae. I was amazed since I didn't believe they ate the stuff, lol.
I have 4 Oto cats in my 20g long, they did nothing...I added co2 and that fixed the algae instead.

1) I would not add a "fish" to solve a problem.
2) It is just diatoms==it will go away eventually with time.
3) If you must add something to rid it, get a few snails.

A mag float will work best. Adding more fish can contribute to the problem in the long run.

Will the bristle nose bother the shrimps though? i would expect the pleco to fight for the aglae wafter or what ever i put into the tank for the 40 or so shrimps. Also wouldn't n't the bristle nose eat some of the shrimplets since they can surely fit into its mouth? thanks
