brown cottony stuff

hey people,
today i noticed my filter wasnt running at full capacity(less water coming out)
so i opened the filter to find this brown cottony substance. it was cloughing everything.
would this be caused by red zebra fries, i jus put sum in lass week they were fries and still are. i was thinkin that the stuff was sumthin that is related to a fry's yolk sac.?

Its hard to say without a picture.... it might be a type of algae, or an accumulation of gunk and waste. My filters like to grow all kinds of stuff
