bubbles on the top of tank

whenever i play with the tank i try to make shure no soap but maybee i got a bit on my hands i dought it though the bulbs that didnt grow i took out, its been running for a month i did add bio spira for up to 90 gallon it is a bit expensive then put fish in next day from a smaller tank. it does have a rust color that it didnt have its had bubbles for the last 5 days and i changed a quarter of the water using water from my good tank. the bubbles mellow out when i open the top but are still there. and it smells a bit looks like brown something growing on glass dont know thanks

Also, check your ammonia levels. Sometimes if ammonia is high, it will leave tiny bubbles at the top.

Do you have any driftwood in the tank? What about rocks? If so, what kind? Driftwood will leach tanins out into the water that will give it a reddish/brown color and also lower your pH. Some rocks also have high levels of iron which (and this is just a guess) will oxidize (rust) and possibly color you water and mess with the chemistry. As for the bubbles, can't help you there. Maybe it is soap like others have suggested. Ory, your gouramis are building bubble nests. Don't know.

Good luck.

Can you take a pic of it? If the gouramis made it, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it's water quality related, then do some water changes(30% twice weekly until it clears up) and add some new carbon to your filter if possible.

Ok, it sounds as if you have New Tank Syndrome, your Tank is Cycling, High ammonia levels can cause bubbles, and Bio-Spria will not automatically Cycle your tank, It may Take a week or so off the process, But it still needs to be cycled, Perferably Fishlessly, But you past that! Bubbles and an odor from the tank indicates you have High ammonia, which would mean you are cuurently cycling. here are a few links that will halp you. http://faq.thekrib.com/begin-cycling.html and http://www.bestfish.com/breakin.html and http://www.csupomona.edu/~jskoga/Aquariums/Ammonia.html also http://www.ratemyfishtank.com/article2.php. Read these articles and yu should have a better understanding of you situation.

Bio-spira doesn't simply take a week off your cycle, it cycles the tank completely.
