what are the three hardiest butterfly fish. Can I add a butterfly w/ a sailfin already in the tank.

Hmm. .

Black and White, Threadfin, Burgess, Saddled, Red Sea Racoon, Masked,Teardrop, Latticed, Red-Black, Mertens and a few others. Keep in mind, even most of these have a 70% or less of living in captivity.

As for your surgeon, he could kill your new entry to the tank, but then again, you never know. I have heard of Tangs being agressive towards Butterflies, but never seen them together so can't really say.

They will though, tear up any inverts in your tank, most butterflies will, so keep this in mind.

What size system and how many years have you been keeping marine fish?

Oh, almost 6 years exp, but only about 3 keeping my own in total, it crashed and I am just now rebuilding. I have spent alot of my time in my LFS helping them out when I am available and I own a 135 reef system. I posted pics in the reef keepers forum. My tank info is in my signature.

Are you antoine? I would suggest a Heniochus acuminatus or Chaetodon lunula. Even though some sites say they’re easy I would rank them Moderate.

That’s how long I’ve been in the hobby, about 6 years. I also helped take care of saltwater when I was young but the fish were mainly clowns, and under gravel filters. I worked there for free because they are family friends and needed the help at the time. Thank goodness technology has changed. Those tanks were nasty to clean :)

Hey pineapple I have a 125 fowlr. with sump. Right now I have a sailfin, lemopeel angel, flame angel, foxface, and a indian blenny. I've only been back into saltwater for about a year.

I would say you are full at the moment. The sailfin tang will get 15”? The fox face, depending on which one, get about 7-10” The butterflies I mentioned will get about 10 inches, give or take.

Welcome back to the hobby.
