Tyson(or "Ty") was a 10 year old Pitbull I rescued, his owners had him chained behind their house, he was living in about 3-4 inches of packed-down crap. the chain and lock around his arthritic neck weighed 10 lbs, I didn't weigh the chain he was dragging.
he didn't have a dog house, he food was damp and moldy, and his owner used him as a bait-dog. His owners and all of the other people who lived at the house were big dealers, the didn't try to hide that. I saw him one time(when his owner was beating him) and offered to take care of him, they didn't care, so I did for about 6 months. The owners moved after 1-2 months and left a note saying he was mine, I had 4 dogs, so I couldn't take him. So for those months I went the 5 blocks to his house, morning, afternoon and night to walk, feed and change his bedding(I got him a house about 3 days after I met him). he was such a sweety, all he wanted to do was curl up next to me and go to sleep. Knowing how his past experiences with other dogs wentI didn't think he'd like other dogs, but he did great with them. I finally found him a home in DC, the lady that took him had a younger female pitt, they got along fine, but she left them loose in her house one day and left, when she came home all of her cats were torn to shreads, it was her dog that did it, but she got rid of Ty. The lady that took him had rescued other dogs before, and she kept him for a couple happy years, he was a kind of mentor to another pitt puppy, who didn't have very good manners to say the least
his owner wrote me this morning, we all knew he wasn't going to make it, he had cancer and bad arthritis.
Ty crossed the rainbow bridge on July 7. We were with him the whole time loving and holding him, he was not alone for one moment. He was just plainly miserable. He had gained so much weight that he could not move comfortably, he fell going up and down the two steps in and out of the house and his bedroom… We just felt that we had kept him here long enough. I am very sorry that my email did not get to you earlier, we have been having issues with my computer here. We have his ashes and he is setting with all of the pets pictures. I miss him dearly but know that he is much happier.
I am sorry to have to tell you this.

I wish he had longer, he diserved it after what he went through.
