i have CAE's and SAE's. i love the SAE's because of their color and activity, but they seemed to do nothing for my algae problem. i have CAE's in all my tanks and they keep them spotless. of course, theyre all at or under 2", so the worst may be yet to come. they only show aggression to each other occasionally.

The couple I just bought did a good job of cleaning the Algae in my tank, but like some of the people I spoke to they say as they get older they get more territorial towards each other. We'll just have to wait and see.

i have a cae in with 3 cory's and 4 glo light tetra's and it is about 4 inches long and never chases anything unless there is an algae wafer in the tank

I've also heard that after CAE's reach adulthood, they no londer eat algae. Well, what do they eat? How could they be so well adapted to eating algae, and then stop?

I had couple CAEs at one point and although they didn't eat much algae when they got older, and the larger they are, the more aggressive they get, they are still nice fish. I loved mine but now that I have SAEs I could never go back :)

What if I were to raise CAE's or SAE's (whichever eats more algae as it grows larger,) in my community tank, and then transfered them to my semi-aggressive tank? The reason for this is that I could not raise either in my aggressive tank; they are too small, and would have to grow larger before they would become something other then a meal.
