Calling all Danio Experts

Ok can someone out there give me some info? I have 6 purple passion danios that I originally got in March to cycle my then newly planted tank. They are always spry and playful. Today I noticed two of them with whiskers????? They look like Kenny bin laden <my killer Bosemani> did when ate up all of my Amanos! SO my question is this...do Purple Danios grow whiskers or are they eating my shrimp too?????

Danios do have barbels - most of the time you cannot see them as they are pressed against the head while they dart around the tank. In some species these barbels are longer than others. I tend to see the barbels on my males when they display to each other.

I was hoping they were barbells of males...and not little shrimp antennae coming out of their mouths....What a relief!
