my only concern would be the shrimp picking at the frog's skin, but otherwise I dont think there is anything wrong with mixing them, as I've never actually seen this occur.
thats great. I was hoping I could mix the two. I would like to get one of those shrimp that have fans and filter feed but they are probably to expense.
ADFs are only a few dollars at the pet chains here, that stinks they were 8 dollars. Were they large frogs? The pet chains here have two kinds for sale and I think the large ones are 8 and the small ones are less.
Check the frogs CAREFULLY! ADF and ACF's look quite a bit alike as they are young, but ACF's vastly outgrow ADF's, getting to possibly 5-8 inches in length when full grown. Also, ACF's will eat absolutely any fish or shrimp that they can get into their mouths. Check the front hands of the frog. If the fingers are webbed, then you're fine, they are ADF. And also, if it's albino, it's an ACF, no matter WHAT the sign or salesman says, ADF don't come albino colored.
my friend has kept ADF with cherry shrimps and ghost shrimps. one day, they found the ADF with a cherry in its mouth. i think with smaller shrimps, such as the cherries, bumblebee's, etc. u should be careful with. but with ghosts, amanos, and anything that cant fit into their mouths should be fine.
I am wondering if I can get ADFs b/c my rock in my tank is DIY rock that I made. I think it will be okay, but if the ADF swims on some parts of the rock I am concerned that it will cut them. There are some pieces of CC in the concrete mix that I used to create the rocks. I built the rocks over pvc joints to give ADFs and/or shrimp a place to hide. I really am not sure if I should give it a try and see how they do, or just stick to shrimp.
They DO have very sensitive skin, so you might want to be careful with anything that could cut them. The way ADF and ACF go on their "tearing around the aquarium" binges, if there are very many sharp things they feasibly could kinda rip themselves to shreds.
