Hey

When I upgrade, I would like to go to 29 g BUT my stand is for a 20 gallon tank. I really don't want to buy another cabinet, so I may just have to get a 20 gallon.

The 20 g cabinet size is: 27 1/16" W x 14 5/8" D x 30 5/16" H (68.8 x 37.3 x 77 cm), it is by Topfin.

The cabinet dimensions for the 29 gal are: 33 1/16" W x 14 5/8" D x 30 5/16" H (84 x 37.3 x 77 cm)

Thanks!

29 gal will fit on stands for 20 gal LONG.

My 20Gal Long/29 Gal stand measurments are:
31 1/2 x 14 1/2 inches.

Hope that helps you. I don't think a 29 will fit on your 20gal stand, as my stand only has about 1/2 inch leeway all the way around.

OK - you are right about bottom surface space - what good will a high tank be ...

I called a local store and they do have a 25 gal that would fit on the stand but if it is the same base as the 20 ... do I even bother with doing a 25??

I called the store and the 25 gal is just 4"s taller. Are those 4"s (and 5 gallons) helpful??

Really I just have guppies and cories ... with a bigger tank I may try a center piece fish (not sure what kind).

It depends on what you want in the tank. You can get fish that swim at different levels, and having more water makes it easier to maintain levels. I think there is more margin for error with more water.
