i have 2 port hoplo catfish in my 180 with an oscar among others. i did also have a parrot fish in there but after seeing some aggression i have taken him out of the tank today. the oscar has some bites from its fins and some scratches on its sides. ive just noticed 1 of the port hoplos up against the oscar as he was swimming, do they have the ability to bite other fish and do damage? ive put it all down to the parrot as it seems aggressive and was chasing and barging into the oscar right where the marks are on its sides. i just want to make sure im removing the problem fish and not taking 1 out that hasnt done anything wrong.

Catfish don't have teeth so even if they nip they aren't very good at it. They usually only pose a threat to tankmates they can swallow whole.

 thank you. ive been watching carefully and its like the hoplos are feeling the oscar with their whiskers before moving off, my minds at rest now, thanks ;)

well ive removed the parrot, and left the oscar with the silver dollars, and have coem down today to no further damage. seems to me the parrot was to blame but il give it another couple of days before i know for sure. the parrot was aggressive and was chasing all the time, it also is able to shut its mouth completely unlike the normal parrots ive seen.
