i know its a dumb question but im just wondering if my fish can see food in the dark because i wanted to start leaving the lights off all day because of a recent heat wave my tanks temp has raised to the low 80's. I dont want to feed them in the dark if they cant see it and the pellets float to the bottom of the tank

I wouldn't worry about it. I feed my fish flakes after lights out sometimes, and they find it alright.

Even if they sink, the fish will scavenge the bottom of the tank and get the food.

well, if it 100% dark they cant see, but they do smell. they will be able to locate the food. And its likely if there is ambient light(the light coming through your windows, or lamps in the room) they will still have enough to see thier food.
