Hello, I was just wondering if anyone thought it would be a good or bad idea to add a few more fish to my tank. You can see what I have in my tank by clicking on the specs link below. I was thinking about 2 more Bleeding hearts and 2 more Gold Barbs. I will be waiting a few weeks before doing this but just wanted some opions before doing it. Most of this fish in my tank are schooling fish this is why I am asking. I think the above fish might be alittle happier. I know when I added a couple Prestilla to the 2 that were in there they seemed to be happier about it and seem to stay with each other. Thanks

I agree with dorkfish, although I think getting more corys as well as more of the current species you have. we need more caring hobbists like you! :D

You can certainly add more. Go for up to 6 of each in total, that includes the cories. Small individual schooling fish add very little to the bioload - think of a school of 6 or so as being one fairly active larger fish (say 3-4 inches) in bioload terms.

Ya you could probably add a couple more. Maybe some more corys or some neons!

Great, I like the schooling fish and just don't want to overdo it. None of the fish are over 2" and my gravel stays pretty clean due to the RUGF. My levels are also pretty good. I did get 2 more Barbs and a few small swordtails. The swordtails I got because the top of the tank just looked so bare. They seem to be doing pretty good though. I am looking at getting a floating plant as I think the light might be bothering some of the other fish. When I turn the light off at night then some of the other fish start to swim up twords the top and fill out the tank.

I don't think I will be going with the neons. I did try them and my tank got all messed up due to them. They all ended up dying and also killed 2 other fish. When I took them out and did a good cleaning and some meds the rest of the fish did fine.

Thanks again.

I'm not sure. I ended up getting to much put it all in set it all up then relized the same thing and asked myself the same question. I didn't take it out due to the fact it was all setup already and didn't want to try to change things again as it already took to long to get it setup. It doesn't look to bad but there is about 3" of gravel going all the way across. When I do a good tank cleaning I will probably remove some of it.
