Can I keep tiger barbs with cory cats?

ILOVEBETTAS

It's Cory Lover's cat!
I don't think it would be bad... cory cats don't have long fins that a barb would nip at. I was planning to get 6-8 barbs and 6-8 cory cats...

I have barbs and corys. Seven Tiger Barbs and six cories. Also, six neons. No problem. The barbs have never bothered the corys, not even when competing for the same food. Actually, the barbs have only picked on each other, but having a full school (like 6-8) makes that a lot less likely.

Yay! I don't have to go back to the drawing board!!! YES YES YES! Sorry, I've been confused for the last few days... lol... so that's what I'm going to use that tank for!

About 11 years ago, I kept tiger barbs with bronze cories (and other fishes). The barbs were too preoccupied with chasing each other to notice anything else living in the tank. The shoals numbered 8 and 6 respectively, if memory serves.

Oh darn... I have another problem....

I'm going to murder myself if I keep having fishie problems...

Headline (for me):

Small juvinile cory cats may die quickly for no reason.

WHAT?!? BUT I WANTED THE SMALL ONES! They're soooooooooo cute! Ahghg....

Personally, I haven't noticed them dying quickly for no reason. Albino cories and panda cories are small, and stay small.

What I HAVE noticed is that if you have two cories of the same kind, they will pair off. If the smaller follows the larger one around the tank, the larger is probably female, and the smaller male.

Anyway, if the female dies, the male will get sick and die very shortly after. I have seen this happen three times now, and it will break your heart.
