So, something very interesting happened today in my tank. My kribensis pair which were in the tank since almost a month now, and were happy until yesterday are apparently filing for a divorce. The female kribensis was beating the bejewels out of the male which was totally frightened in a corner of the tank. And every time she had a chance she would follow him as if she were possessed. So I took her out and put her in a 10G tank to write this post and ask:

What can I do now?!

10 minutes after taking the female out, the male who did not even grab a bite had restored colors and was behaving as usual.

EDIT: I do see her a bit more skinny. Is it possible that she laid eggs and now is kicking even the male out of the territory? If it is, is this something common? What can I do then?

Finally I have 2 angels and a few cories. If I leave the male alone in the tank my great fear is:

Will he begin to bother other fish now that he is all alone with no female to chase (...well at least it should have been that way)???

PLEASE! I appreciate any help now :help:. THANKS!!

PS: The tank was/is a 38G, heavily planted with rocks and driftwood.

Anyone?! Please people, HELPPP!

I was watching the male and he appears to be guarding the same territory the female appeared to guard so I'm leaning towards eggs in that area. So, what should I do? Do I leave the female out? Do I place the female and take the male out? Or do I simply forget about everything? Please let me know. Thanks

My new pair will do that also, when 2 things happen. If I take the eggs out to hatch them seperately or 2. if the female eats the eggs they go nuts at eat other.

I would leave the female in the 10 gallon for at least 2wks and feed her well when you add her back in things might be rough for a bit but should smooth out. At least in the 2wks she can fatten up again. I've also came home to see my male beating up the female in the corner. No real damage has come of it, so I would try to keep an eye on them I don't really think they will hurt each other that much. goodluck with it all

So, what may have happened here is that the male was eating the eggs and she began to beat him up like crazy? Even fish marriages are complicated...
