Haplochromis polystigma
Thanks nola. After your response I read up on it and it is supposed to lay on its side feigning death to attract small feeders. I have never seen that. In fact this fish is very active and an eager feeder.

I so was thinking the same coler cool deal man, but yep they are great predators and that ambush tactic they have is common with wild fish not really a trait you see in the aquarium just like the Malawi eye biter compressiceps..

Really don't hear any eye biting going on with them..

However it will be a big fish have fun with it..
 
Nimbochromis and Haplochromis are synonymous at this point. Nimbochromis is a newer classification. Regardless it is either an inmature male or female polystigma.
