I haven't been to a public aquarium in a long time. I know that Shedd Aquarium in Chicago is pretty nice, but if there are any that might be worth visiting that cater to Freshwater species, if you could list them and their location, it would be greatly appreciated.

The Oklahoma Aquarium just outside of Tulsa is very nice actually. They have some very well done exhibits with local and North American species. They also have a pretty good saltwater exhibit.

The National Aquarium in Baltimore is the most awesome I have been to. Chatanooga has one that is basically a river and estuaries which is really cool.

Adventure Aquarium in Camden NJ has a really nice SA river biotope. They had a 4'+ Arapaima and a Black Pacu that was easily the diameter of a large trash can lid and about 6" thick when I was there a bit over a year ago.

The Amazonia exhibit at the National Zoo in DC is pretty cool....and as previously mentioned, the Baltimore Aquarium is top notch, as well.
