Alright, so the lady loves candles.... and it really never hit me before, but i know aersol(sp?) sprays shouldn't be used around tanks, but what about a candles' fumes? And its not exactly like its one candle, it's an excessive amount.

Well, aresols have funky chemicals and corrosive and fumes...

Candles are just wax. As long as they're unscented - or even better, beeswax - i would think it should be fine.

The last thing I saw about this was that some of the imported candles still used lead in the wicks. Over time this would be a hazard for you, especially if someone was using a lot of them.

Not an issue in my experience.

thanks guys

and just for the record the candles are scented and not imported, dont know if that helps?

i dont see why they would be an issue, however i had one sitting up on the light before, and wasnt paying attention to it, so it melted way down and then ran out of the candle holder, and it took me about twenty minutes to net all the wax beads that had formed on top of the water. But there was no ill effect on the fish. so that would be my advice dont keep it on the tank, and dont forget about it.

Well I had checked on the smoking thing because I smoke (outside the house), and was worried about possibly transferring nicotine etc into the tank. If you're really paranoid I guess you could keep updating your activated carbon since that should take out most chems...(although I have heard that can mess with ferts?)
