Cannot detach light from filter

I bought the Aquatop Pices 5 gallon for my betta, but the filter was so bulky and I bought a smaller filter. Problem is my light is firmly attached to the original filter, it can be removed but it's stuck, like there's a lip that is holding it there and I can't push it down enough to release it.
I don't want to have to throw the light away, is there any way to remove it without destroying the filter?

I don’t have any experience with this setup. Try contacting the manufacturer. They should be able to help you.

At a guess, the filter clips in and isn't designed to be removed. Look to see if you can slide something behind the filter to press in the 'clip' portion? Other option would be use a dremel to cut it...but you might not be able to have it look nice.
