Cant attach belt buckle

I just got a new belt but I cant put on a buckle. It dose not have the slot in it like my other belts do. And it came with this thing. Here a picture.

Am I supposed to make the slot myself?

What's the buckle look like? The attachment side, not the front. I do some leatherwork, can probably help you figure something out.

I just took this from another belt. The new one did not come with one.

That's a heel bar buckle. I don't remember how exactly to attach them offhand, but I do have a belt book at home. I'll take a look when I get home and post some more info about it. You may be right and have to punch a hole where your arrow is.

can you slide the long slot of the buckle inside the belt and over the studs?

I think I figured it out. I have to get one of those flat buckles to use it if I dont want to cut a hole.

Yep. Take a look here, these blanks all have the slot cut out. If you don't want to punch out the slot yourself, check with any local tack shops or possibly even shoemaker/luggage makers. Someone that works with leather will probably have the punch you need, and shouldn't charge much if anything to slot that for you.

Thanks..I will prob just get a different buckle or find the utility knife.

I work with Leather for my second job, To fix that belt you will need to cut a slot. Its not hard at all, Just be sure to center it. The easiest way to make sure its centered is with a ruler If you need more help just ask.

The Utility knife is too rugged use an exacto, and make sure its a new blade.

Ok. I have to find where that exacto went then.
I got a buckle today. Its plain silver and also an bottle opener.
