Hey i have a 6x2x2 foot tank without a hood. It has two 300watt heaters in it, my touble is i cant keep a constent water temp. It changes between 26.7-27.9 would the addition of a hood help it??

a 2 - 3 degree difference is pretty normal for most tanks. The water is going to adjust when the lights are on/off in the tank because lighting will affect temperature. a hood will help a slight bit by keeping most of the heat under the hood however I wouldnt worry too much. My tanks generally adjust from 76-78/79 depending on what time of day it is. if it was a larger fluctuation I would worry about it but at that small of an increment it seems pretty normal

I have a question

my goldfish keep swimming up an down the side of the glass I have had them for 11 hrs .... could it be my pH ? new fish owner

One thing the hood will do is keep the evaporation of your tank down. I sealed up most all of the opening on the top of my tank and it cuts the water loss down by more than half. It may help control the temp, but there are a lot of other factors to consider one is house temp. I would not worry about a few degrees as long as they are not drastic.
