note: i'm not here discussing blue pearl shrimp, or blue tiger shrimp.

I see this high order Indian shrimp discussed on several European web sights,
while here in the US you may see the Indian zebra/striped/black and green varieties.
I understand only the females turn blue while the males remain transparent.

I was wondering if this is a hybrid made by hobby breeders, or natural?
and if you have seen this blue varient resold in the States. I'm seeing
them sold on various eastern european web sight for $5-$10usd each.

basically, I want to buy a babaulti soon, but since I have
stripped CRS and Yellow Shrimp already in the same tank,
I'd prefer this Blue variety, even if many will remain clear.

note: the distinguishing Indian style Rostrum: blueness and striations may vary;

I dont' think that picture is of blue babaulti. I do get in blue babaulti, mixed with black babaulti and the standard brown/red babaulti. They are typically broader through the abdomen then those picturesd and that is not the color blue they usually end up. The females get dark almost navy blue and the males are often the more clear to tank color.

Rachel - if you dig up a better photo, please share it so we have a clear picture on what to expect. I did notice a wide discrepancy while doing a google image & video search, and even found stores selling blue tigers miss labeled as babaulti.blue, but figured that Indian rostrum shape was a safest shrimp photo to post here.

is this any closer to what you are describing?

Drooooool.....

yes, though they are rarely that vivid. I would suspect photoshop. I will try to dig through some old pictures to find some but I lost my old laptop where the majority were stored so will have to go through 200 pages of photobucket pictures.

yeah, I figured that was too blue to be true too.
no rush with the pictures, I would just rather see
a photo from someone who actually saw bigfoot

it might be faster to google photos and videos,
and just post a link to which one you saw that
fits the hybrid you got mixed in your shipment.

this is why I hesitate to order any from Europe
since nobody has a standard blue nailed down,
and I guess it's unrealistic to expect one.

Now Fire Blue's on the other hand ..... :)

Rachel - is this any closer to what hybrids you saw?
FranksAquarium may try to import some in the Spring.
his may not have been fully color'ed up since he's just
holding mostly juveniles for eventual resale.

many of the European forums I'm reading make is sound
like blues are not a fully isolated hybrid yet, meaning they
may not breed true blue offspring consistently.

yes, that is closer.

I can get them as well though I dno't see them often. Frank and I often order from the same sources.
