My maid (after advising of no chemical use at all) used carpet fresh on my carpet. Also have 10 fresh water tanks and nine Parrots. My 125g Marine with inverts has had a problem since! Half my fish are real mucusie. All fins look real cloudy (not clear looking)? It seems to have started with white spots, thought maybe it was ich. Please help? Things are not looking good at all!

I've used a variety of carpet cleaners and air fresheners in the rooms with my tanks, including one that's open topped, and never had a problem. Sorry, but I'd look for something else as the cause--especially of any parasite issues.

You might want to run some carbon if you think there is any contaminants in the tank. Otherwise water changes can never hurt.

Wow. I'm in the Marine forum! It's so dark and salty in here!

Anyway, I just popped my head in to say:

Well guys I wouldn't rule the carpet freshener out. I know the carpet fresh I have says "Do not ever use near aquariums or birds," - especially with any of the ones with a flea powder mixed in.

My vet told me to be weary of using them without moving the bird out of the room, so I assume fish are susceptible too. Not saying its likely or the cause, but it isn't impossible.

Thanks all, for the feedback I am greatfull. I'm in the process of tripling the water volume with a 268G empty show, a 135 sump a 35g refugim and 2- 20g dump tanks in laudry room behind show tank! By the way, does anyone think that maybe my new fish with a 3 week Q-tine that maybe cyanide syndrome?
