I have 10 Zebra Danios in my 38 Gallon Tank. I want to move 5 into a 10 gallon tank for my kid. We watered the living room floor last night trying to net them.:wall: Any ideas. Otherwise they're going to become Crayfish food.(They are already lurking in the plants with open claws.)
I should add, this tank has a lot of hiding places for the Crays, and I am trying not to tear down the tank. Thanks for any suggestions, or ridicule.:headshake2:

I'll try that. And that is one of the reasons for this reduction. I'm afraid that at night, when the Crays come out, and the Danios swim in their little pocket, they will be easy picken's.

Two nets, one much larger than the other. Use the small net to chase the fish into the bigger one.

(Although, if you're like me, you'll wind up catching every fish but the one you want. :wall:)

You can try cutting the top off of a soda bottle, inverting it so it funnels back into the bottle then gluing or taping it in place. Put some gravel or a weight in the bottle along with some food. Then leave it for a little bit and hopefully you will catch some fish. They can find their way in but have trouble finding their way out. Notice I said some fish, not necessarily the fish you want! Lol Let me know if you need a picture.

The large net small net method is great, and here is an addendum:
Fish get tired.
Chase them around the tank for 5 or 10 minutes without bothering to try catching them. This will tire them out a bit and make it somewhat easier to catch. In combination with the 2 net method, you should find it easy to catch them.

my fish always come up to the surface to eat so when they come up use a big cup and quickly dump it in the water making a lot of water rush into your cup near the danio and the danio should get sucked in... i use this method for baby fry also

Try doing it with giant ones in a 100G. The net method works for me.

:grinyes: I had the same problem a month or two ago. Zebra Danio's are hell to catch. I tried different methods for hours before finally just removing everything from the tank and lowering the water level and it still wasn't easy. I didn't have a large net at the time, but if you have one I would try chasing them into it with another net. Good luck!
