Okay, my 110 finally has a stand and water in it. I'm gonna let it sit for a week or so with nothing in it to make sure there are no leaks or anything like that, then let it cycle, then the fun part. FISH!
Does anybody know a good catfish that can fit comfortably in a 48" by 18" by 30" tank? I know I want a catfish but I want to make sure I get something that will live happily for the rest of it's life in this tank. For tankmates I was thinking a pair of oscars or a birchir, or some other impressive fish that fightens little children.

Go to www.planetcatfish.com

But I have always been fond of some of the larger synodontis catfish. I have a featherfin syno (Syn. eupterus I believe) that lived quite happily with an oscar for several years and is now living with Malawi cichlids. Too big to be pestered but doesn't pester, either. It's maybe 5-6" and about 7 years old.

A few pictus cats would be cool in there, and they should get big enough to hold their own, too.

how big to the dalmation catfish get?

I'd recommend a pair of Pictus Cats or a single larger variety of Synodontis.

i love my whitetip shark catfish...reminds me of a whitetip shark =p and it swims around like a shark.

Go over to www.planetcatfish.com and reference the Cat-elog using common names.

Research is best done by ones self, the knowledge seems to stick in the brain better. ;)
