catfish question

I am in the process of setting up a cichlid tank. I want to have two catfish or bottom feeder in the tank. Will I have to feed the catfish anything or will they find enough food on the bottom on their own?
 
I would feed them. You need to make sure they get nutrious food so go with a good quality sinking tablet, feed at night so the cichlids don't go after them.

algae wafers are only if you have an algae eater correct? Cause just because it is a catfish doesn't make it an algae eater.
 
Nope, all of my fish enjoy algae waefers once in a while.

As stated above, get some good sinking pellets and drop them in before lights go out.
 
I use algae wafers, shrimp pellets and Hagen's Complete sinking tabs. I give a different tab each day and then 1 day a week nothing. A varied diet is the best.

i've tried a few different brands, but my corys/dojo loaches LOVE "Hikari Tropical Sinking Wafers For Catfish, Loaches, and Bottom Feeders".
 
Alot of my fish, including corys loaches and plecos really like the shrimp pellets
