I've heard of people trying to recreate the stuff with the garf method but I never heard of any good success. Texas holey is limestone so it's a completely different look than reef rock. You may try searching for honecomb limestone as an alternative name.
and of course, if you do find some.... definately post I'd love to get my hands on something cheaper than the real thing as well (as much as I hate fake stuff in my tank).
