Cheap Aboveground Pool kits

Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with Blue World Pools' super cheap 15'x24' Econoline, or any similar cheapie above-ground setup? It's pretty big for 349/399$ and comes with some cheapie pump and everything.

I'm wondering if the quality of the liner would be adequate for our hobby and how long one could expect such a rig to last if protected from the elements.

i think it could work depending on where you live. i going to be doing some kind of out door breeding or growing this summer. heck i was even thinking of the $10 kid pool for something small.

Aren't those the pools that you always see somebody climbing out of and they split and flood the yard on the home video shows?

Kind of scary in my book.

Yeah I've been thinking more about this. Trick would be that the fish can't have any pokie parts, since assumably the liner is thin. No pokie decorations or medium of any kind. There's a ladder for me when i want to swim with the fishes . Fish don't climb over the side like a kid so that part shouldn't be a problem.

I think an inexpensive insulated structure could be built around and over it for overwintering, and use it to raise cold water locals. Non-pokie ones. Is it ethical to declaw a catfish? :-D

For years I had a very large hard plastic kids pool in my yard as a pond. I had a few gold fish in there and plants. I had a sponge filter in there. In the winter I put a floating de-icer in there meant for farm stock tanks. All went beautifully for a few years until a raccoon came along and ate my goldfish.

If you really want cats, you should probably look at stock tanks. They're not quite as cheap as that pool, but still relatively inexpensive and much more durable. But if you want to raise bass, sunfish, minnows, crayfish, etc. that pool would probably work just fine.

Oh, and don't leave the ladder in. No need to help the raccoons any more than necessary.
