Cheap sand for 75G BW tank?

Your local hardware store or pool supply store... One 50 lbs bag would be enough and should run you 3-10 bucks.

ya, i got some decorative sand from home depot up here in toronto .
it is meant as decorative white silica sand or sandblasting sand.
cost me a whole $6.98 canadian.

i made the horrible mistake of being lazy and not washing it out very well :(
really dirty.

Try to find "southdown tropical play sand" at a local Home Depot.

Its agronite sand, mined from the same place as CaribSea.

It will keep the Ph steady at about 8.2ish.

Agreed with Slip...again.

Southdown is a great way to go! Unfortunately, they don't sell the stuff on the west coast, but you should (hopefully) be able to find it at Home Depot in Ohio.

The may have recently changed the packaging a little bit, but here's what it looks like:

I agree with teh person posting on the sandblasting sand, the sand I bought at Menard's for 2.50/50# bag is gorgeous, it is the color of desert/ocean sand, it is VERY white/tan in color, beautiful sand, VERY cheap, I also have a 75 gal and I put 100# of this in my tank....I too made the mistake of not rinsing, but it looks great

Saving some $$$$$$$

thanks for all the info...

I'll try and find both sands over the holidays. I getting all my gear ready so when I get my 75G out of lay-away I'll be ready to crank-it-up.

gcvt.. thanks for pic..no way I can miss it now.
