So I go into my lair to observe my female GT, Spike. She is in a 43g by herself and is seen rather easily. Weeelllll, I didn't see her and then I checked the floor. Low and behold! My heart skipped a few beats as I saw my girl gasping for some precious aqua!

I have no idea how long she was outta the water, but I was thrilled when I noticed she was breathing. The slot in the back of the tank is about 2.75 in. That's definetly getting covered tonight, shoulda been done sooner, I know! And I always kept telling myself" There is a chance..."

Anyways, I turned the lights off and added the remainder of my stress coat. As of right now she's still breathing very rapidly and is light in color:(

At least you were lucky enough to catch her still breathing. I haven't been so lucky. You would be amazed at the tiny holes in the back of the tank that some fish will get through to land on the floor. :(

when my arowana was slightly smaller and it was in a 180 with some tinfoil barbs i used to find them on the carpet probably once a month! the stupid aro would chase them and they would jump and hit the lid hard enough to make it pop open and out they went. it sucks to find a fish on the floor ;(

It sucks worse when you go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and step on one. Damn gourami...

I've had that same thought about escaped crickets. What if I step on one in the dark? EW.

Well, my 4th jumpee was saved. Actually, he didn't jump. It went more like this:

Mara (the new kitten): Ooo, I think I'll go and dump everything on this shelf, including that funny looking glass thing with the long-finned fish that's always mad.

Betta: Oh, save me.......help.......somebody.......anybody.......

We were lucky enough that it had just happened before we got home and that he had landed on a completely soaked paper towel that was probably his life saver and kept him wet.

You're lucky!

You're lucky she didn't die. That happened once with my male betta. (He jumped out of the net and flopped on the floor.) My betta lived for 8 more months..... then died.
:tombstone: Pudge, my little blue betta.

O I do hope that she will destress and be totally better tomorrow.
Now for my carpet story.
When I 1st started buying fish for my outside pond, I bought 2 2" koi and placed them in a 55 gl tank in the house until they got bigger. Well they got bigger and I kept neglecting to move them outside. I had a 16" (Scarface) and a 14" (Bob). I came home late one night and when I was on the front porch unlocking the door I heard what I thought to be rapid foot steps, I went on in the house b/c my husband was home. Well my husband was laying in the chair beside the 55 gl tank a sleep and I though he was trying to trick me so I poked him and told him I heard him running in the house and told him to get up. Well he didn't reply so I double checked and he was out. So I thought what was that, I went to my tank and there was BOB in the floor flopping. I grabbed him quickly and put him back in. He was fine, just had a bite mark on his tail from my cat LOL. To big for a snack. Needless to say they went to the pond the next day.
