I am thinking about getting a tank and making it into a cheesy/tacky tank. I know the perfect tank for this, a 4 gallon baby biorb! Not because I think biorbs are necessarily cheesy but because I feel they could be made to look cheesy/tacky without too much work. I plan to mainly use fake decorations.

This tank will be an upgrade for my female betta "Betsy" who is currently in a 3 gallon eclipse tank.

I have been wanting a biorb for a while now and I am aware of its limitations but I still want it.

I would get the volcano tube cover but I want to be able to see the bubbles rising in the tube (I like the way it looks).

I plan to mix a couple different bio medias with the biorb substrate (I have been wanting to see if bio media would work well as a substrate for a while). I plan to use eheim substrat pro and seachem matrix.

Besides what I have already mentioned, do any of you have any suggestions for this tank?

you can't spell cheesy without clown puke gravel

I would use clown puke gravel but the biorbs use a special type of gravel and I want to use that for filtration reasons. I hope that the substrat pro will be clown puke enough when mixed with seachem matrix and the biorb media/gravel.

well, i can tell this will be an interesting build, sounds like fun.

As Lab_Rat suggested, any colorful glass bead or marble would add color without interfering with the tank function.

I think you could approximate clown puke fairly easily... any craft store or even Walmart should have some selection for you. They sell strings of beads that you can easily cut loose and scatter (not actual bracelets/jewelry - less expensive).

I also like the idea of a black light & neon/day-glo plants...

heh, I'm a little worried Betsy will be lost amongst the riot of colors & bubbles!

How about buying a bag of cheap little green army men & adding a few into the aquarium. I saw that done once & it looked pretty funny.

Post lots of pics. I think we all have some bad ones in our past. I had one with red gravel and lots of colorful fake plants. It was so tacky! I loved it.
