So I recently found some unexpected cherry barb fry and was wondering if there was anything special I should be doing for them. Also I dont think I made the brine shrimp solution correct because none hatched and its been over 36 hours now. Any ideas on either of these subjects would help. Also this is my first try at raising fry

Thanks ahead of time!

I'd speerate them into a breeder net first off and then get I beleive it is called "first bites" fish food to feed them and feed them about every 2-4 hours for the first week or two until they are big enough to feed them crushed flake food
That is my opinion, there my be a better suggestion

Good Luck!

Cherry barb fry are indestructable. Every time I clean out my canister filter, I find a few. First bites or powdered flake even are ok choices, but better growth would be achieved with something like cyclopeeze, golden pearls, or ideally, bbs. A 5 gallon with a sponge filter sounds perfect for them. Adding a nice wad of java moss will help keep the water clean and give them something to graze on between feedings.

I set the 5 gallon up last night with sand as the substrate, 75% water from the 30 gallon the barb fry are in and 25% dechlorinated water, and I have a HOB on there with an old filter in it and I'm going to throw a sponge on. I'll check water parameters tonight and possibly transfer them over. And I added 3 MTS to stir the sand up a little

Looks like the molly fry, being as smart as mollies are, all got eaten. While the cherry barb fry are still hovering around the bottom of the tank in the back.

Congrats on the Cherry Barb fry!! I was thinking about trying to breed them too. I have all males now. Beautiful fish. Mine really got a deep red color that developed after they had been in my tank for awhile. I love to watch them do their "dance" for each other.

I was and wasnt trying to breed them, I put 6 in my tank 2 males and 4 females and just kinda thought if it happens it happens. I look in the other day and there they are, the adults have been in the tank for about 3 months and the males are so red its unbelieveable, pretty sure one of the females is ready again since she is pretty fat.

After reading up on cherry barb breeding apparently the fry have been in there awhile since they look like mini cherry barbs already lol

I'll try to get some pics later on but my camera doesnt take good macro pics
