My cherry shrimp is kinda just sitting there with her eggs hanging out.. a small cluster just fell off and floated to the bottom of the tank.. I'd like to put her in a jar or something but how does this work? does it need a bubbler in there?

Well these are the first eggs I've seen come from these cherry shrimp (I had bought 2 that had eggs that also never hatched) I don't know what I'm doing wrong.. I'm still thinking I don't have any boys.. it "seems" like every shrimp I see in there is saddled.. I have 2 smaller ones.. I think they are still juvies that could be boys but all the adults I can find are saddled.. there's about 10 adults in there I spose.. so I was really hoping this was a sign that I really did have a boy.. but maybe not =(

Also, the only things that are in this tank are 7 briggs snails of which I have to remove at least 2 clutches of eggs every other day and 4 corys so I assume the params are fine.. I do tests and everything is fine.

ive had the same issue. have you noticed if all of them have saddled before? how many do you have. I bought 5 juveniles a while back, and they all turned female. and they would drop eggs. Since i have noticed all of them getting saddles. But mine are green, it might be hard to see the saddle on a cherry. and they dont stay saddled all the time either.

Yes, I can certainly see the saddles, I have ones that are saddled with yellow, ones that are saddled with green.. and a SUPER dark red shrimp that looks saddled with almost black in there.. weird.. anyway, I spend a ridiculous amount of time watching my tanks.. I love my animals.. this is the first one thats have ever had eggs and it's killing me that she dropped them anyway.. I'm so sad =( So perhaps the eggs she had just carried too long without being fertalized.. I just don't know if I should get more shrimp or what.. how can you have 10 shrimp and none be boys? lol

It is not uncommon for the female to drop an egg here an there nor uncommon to drop a whole brood of them in the beginning. They usually get the knack of it right away and some just need a bit more practice.

The male cherry shrimp have less color.
I bought 20 cherry shrimp from here and they are having babies like crazy.
I have heard that a lot of fish stores only carry females because they are more colorful.

The dropped eggs can still hatch, if not eaten. I got 4 females that was already berried, and placed them in a seperate tank to themselves. They eventually started dropping the eggs, and I thought I failed. Not too long later, the dropped eggs must have hatched, because I had 30+ baby shrimp running around. They are all doing well now, and are growing slowly. Hopefully, they will mate when they mature, but I am doubtful as the water in NYC is less than ideal for them.

Well I guess we'll see then.. I just assumed they were infertile and dropped them into the bigger tank.. I supposed kinda hoping they might hatch anyway, but I am still leaning towards I don't have any males.. I h ave 1 juvie that seems like it might be a boy.. but in all seriousness, I am quite sure that I have seen all of the adults saddled, or they are saddled right now.. and yes, it's unfortunate I know, but I can look in the tank and know each one of my shrimp.. I should name them.. lol i spend too much time in there haha but then I do only have about 10.

On a side note, my amano shrimp that I got from msj are breeding, I have 2 females and 3 males and one female has just gotten berried 3 days ago and the other female is saddled.. I happen to also run a SW tank so I've been reading up on raising up some zoes.. I mean WTH I can't seem to breed the easy stuff.. maybe I can do the hard stuff lol
