I am a chess addict. I've only been playing for a few years. Before that, I had no clue what the game was about. My boyfriend played all the time and by watching him I learned the game--quite well, if I may say so myself. I play on yahoo quite regularly with random people. However, besides my boyfriend, I don't know anyone else that plays. My friends have no interest in it. I'm just wondering if anyone here plays chess? Maybe we can have a game sometime?

Have a great day! :D

I don't *play* chess persay. I know all the movements and understand the rules, but in a game like chess thats vastly different than actually being able to play the game. Its been a while since I've played a game though, I used to play almost every day when I was in jr. high.

lol^^^^

I too can plat but havnt since jr high. chess club woo woo. no laidies tho. So I went with show choir. ugh.

< Played tons of chess when younger, only play occasionally now. I prefer face-to-face, no clock chess to anything online I've tried. Chessmaster and the like is OK (at least it won't bail mid-game), but frustrating.

I showed up at the fledgling chess club meeting at my HS a bit late freshman year, so I got to play the sponsor (math teacher). After a string of ~12 perpetual checks, I had cleaned out his entire back row & mated him. I didn't go back out of fear that the club experience would dull my game, and I really was not interested in the points chase. I've never earned a point, but would probably compete well w/ C players now, should be losing to B players a bit more often than not with some practice.

I'm old enough to have used descriptive notation and despise algebraic notation.

I don't like playing timed chess much, but on yahoo it's necessary or you get people that will just sit there and not move if you're winning. I usually set the clock at 15 minutes with 15 second increments and 10 minutes per move or else forfeit the game. It's not often that people leave mid-game in my experience, but when they do it is enough to tick ya off.
I don't have a any experience playing on a board face-to-face style. I've only played on yahoo and I LOVE chessmaster though I hate playing against a computer.
