ChicoRaton's 20 gallon aquarium log

Some people say the wrought iron stands are flimsy and dangerous.

I think you just don't like vacuuming your gravel... :-p

I don't have gravel, I have sand! my MTS and Ramshorns are better at cleaning up than the cories...

Oh! Get some briggs in there! They come in blue/green/purple/yellow/white/red! So pretty...

I have decided I don't like the gravel. I am going to move it to the 10 gallon and get some substrate at the store. Hopefully they have some tylo's available or can order them.

So, I couldn't find suitable substrate but I did get a small apistogramma - "Steel blue" - probably a hybrid. Here is a picture of her all freaked out and acclimating to her new home.

Here is a picture of the whole tank for size comparison - 50% weekly water changes right?

Got some tetramin pro flakes and live blackworms to feed.

Cute girl! Might be fun to put your live blackworms in the tank now and let her forage among the gravel... I was just reading about that yesterday, pretty neat!

Hm, unless if course your tank isn't cycled! Lol!

My water parameters are way softer and more acidic than the store so she is adjusting really slowly. I didn't drip acclimate or anything but now I'm thinking I should have. We never did when I worked at an LFS... just added a cup of tank water to each bag after 15-30 minutes then released after another 15-30... Pretty good survival rates. Maybe 99%. That's after shipping. She is taking the change really rough though. She'll be alright.

The blackworms I got from the LFS were a little lazy all spread out and flat in the container so I gave them a big pinch of fish food and they're all clumped up in a tight ball now. I will rinse them in the morning and put them in the fridge. The food is obviously doing them good. There are a few worms in the gravel. I don't think the apisto can eat a whole one at once but she's been taking bites.

The lady at the LFS didn't even tare the plastic container the worms came in - F****** charged me $2 for it. I realized when I got home and got my money back. What BS. I only bought an ounce of worms and she charged me for two ounces...

Exciting day.

GASP- I just noticed the ghost of a fish at the entrance of the log-tunnel! SEE?! I got a psychic apisto!

#%&#$(%*@( The tank is leaking! Just a slow drip. I e-mailed this guy asking for the price of the tank back, and now I have to set up the 10g and move the apisto into it. Effing BS.
