Well, I'd been keeping my eyes on the local classified ads and finally found a good deal on a 20 gallon aquarium including a stand, heater, filter, and light hood.

I will post pictures when I get it set up later today.

Currently accepting suggestions for type of setup. (Anything but a community tank)

Hey that's what I was thinking, actually... There is a chance I might be able to get a 10 gallon tank form this guy too... He has a few aquariums for sale so we will see about that, but if so I was contemplating a minimal design on the display tank with only an overflow and return and a sump/fuge in the 10 gallon below to keep algae down in the main tank and house the heater and filtration. Maybe experiment with a FWDSB... dunno

That or starting a species collection from a certain area...

65 dollars for a tank, metal stand, submersible heater (purportedly with solid temp control - The guy didn't know what brand), standard light hood, substrate, and HOB filter (same deal with the filter)

I will let you know exactly what I got when I pick it up later, but I figured it was a reasonable deal despite dude's inability to accurately describe the system over the phone. There's also the possibility I'll have to turn him down but I doubt that will happen.

I have an idea - How about a snail-only tank... not very many of those.

What species should I keep? I'd like to try breeding a novel (to the hobby) snail species.
