Chili Coral Shedding?!

In my limited experience, globby stuff coming out of anemones is the end product of digestion. When did it last eat?

What was the stuff that came out of the chili like? Cloudy? Full of spicules? Anything exuded from a soft coral has the potential to irritate other corals, but I can't say anything specific about chilis.

The LTA is most likely expelling the undigetable part of whatever it was eating. The big glob is most likely the stomach. The anenome only has one opening so it takes in food and expels waste through the same place.

the stuff that came out of the chili was cloudy yellow. I have done a water change and my anemone has perked up.

BTW, can I regrow the branches I cut off? I have them sitting in a bowl of water, and it looks like the polyps are attempting to come out. I have a 30 gallon "naughty" tank with an urchin and a bicolor blenny, plus live rock and sand. Can I put the branches in there? It looks like it wants to survive!

Welcome to the wonderful world of fragging. If a piece is healthy, it can develop into a new colony. It's probably a good idea to secure the branches, either with rubberbands or super glue gel. Keeps them from getting lost.
