Approx. how long does it take for chlorine / chloramines to evaporate out of 2 1/2 gallons of tap water?

Don't know how long it takes for chlorine to evaporate, but it'll go faster if the water is agitated/stirred.

Chloramine doesn't evaporate, you'll have to treat it with a dechlorinator that works with Chloramine too.

Truth is, I normally use water conditioner, but I left it at my old place (just partially moved). I just bought a betta and a 2.5 gallon aquarium...it was only when I got home that I realized that I had no conditioner.

The chloramine bond will actually break and the chlorine gas off but it typically takes several days to a week. Most folks do not wait it out, but break the bond with some sort of dechlorinator
Chlorine is usually gone in 24 hours or less with some agitation in the water.

either way I'd test the first try or two just to get some idea. chlorine levels are different from water supply to water supply, and agitation/ circulation has an effect as well. You will be best off to taylor a specific time to your specific set-up.
