I got this guy a little bit ago. I ordered it online and it was listed as a "Honduran Red Point". But other members have said it doesn't really look like one, and I agree. I think it could be a Kennyi Cichlid but I'm not really sure. I'm completely new to cichlids and was mostly interested in Central American breeds so I am not really familiar with any African cichlids. If anybody could give me some help on identifying on what this guy is, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

I think it may be one of the Lake Victoria cichlids but not sure which species. I posted your pics on another forum for help in identifying what it might be.

Approximately how long is the fish in your pic?

This is your 40B correct? If you are interested, you can always pick up 6 more and hope to get at least one male and 5 females so you can enjoy keeping this species. You may need to rehome any extra males as they mature.

If you aren't interested in raising fry, you will need to choose carefully what other species you will be able to keep in this tank as cichlids are much more aggressive then regular tropical fish.

You could still keep 1m/5f and not choose to raise the fry.

Yeah, its the 40B. This fish seems pretty cool so far and I am enjoying it. I would like to keep more of them but I've already had one of my online orders get messed up and don't want it to happen again. So that limits me to the big name pet stores which I don't really like. But do you know of any cichlids that are a little more common and can be kept with my mine? Most stores near me pretty much only have the "common" types of fish.
