i am going so start a pond and was wondering what you guys think of a cichlid pond... i think it would be a cool idea. im not sure how big its going to be, but it will be pretty big, ill get measurements tomorrow. and will you guys tell me what you think i should stock it with? i am already going to put my oscar and cons in it , i haver one oscar and 7 cons. ill also be putting in 2 flathead or channel cats and a goldfish too.. and i think the rest will be cichlids and maybe something else, im not sure yet... oh yeah, doesnt aquamojo have a cichllid pond?? or is it someone else with one?

That sounds like a wicked idea! something I want to do one day when I'm not a starving student. As far as fish you could have blue goramis like aquamojo has in his pond, jk. Keep us informened on how it comes along

my friend puts his africans in his pond during the summer, and then takes them out in the winter time. They grow ALOT faster and show lots of color this way. I was with him when he dropped a bunch of juveniles in the pond, and then I helped him catch them at the end of the summer...their growth rate was unbelievable...and so was their color.

im a starving student too... i just got home and i am starved (seriously) :p my dad stays with his mom, and she wants a pond too, so they are both going to split the price so ill just be the boss :D but i posted a few ?'s in the pond section and no one replied.... well... im off to eat now...

They have a cichlid pond at a LFS. Its really cool because the fish get huge! The oscar in there is by far the biggest one I have ever seen. The problem is you can't see the profiles of the fish or any of the coloration without pulling them out.

It seems as if this pond would get too warm in the summer, and too cold in the winter. Do you plan to keep the fish in there all year, and if so, what do you expect the temperature range to be?
