I just moved into my new house... every fish was doing great until this move... My Cichlid (Electric Yellow) got beat up by another fish I had in the tank and got ugly sores on the side of his body (they were first red and bulgy then they opened up and now the fish's skin has fallen off) I've been treating for bacteria and fungus and the sores seem to be looking better.
I haven't noticed ick or anything else on my cichlid (except the red open sores)
I just noticed that he was swimming really fast and banging up against rocks, the plants, filter intake, and the rocks at the bottom.

I should also mention that he's active, swimming around, alert, and eating just fine.

My questions: Why would he be banging up against the rocks? (he's by himself no tankmates except some snails.)
What are the stringy things attached to plastic plants, rocks and floating around in the tank for?

watch your fish poop and if they poop white clear stringy it probally internal parasites?

the banging on the rocks is called flashing. sometimes it means ick, but the fish could be scratching. try using some aquarium salt for the wounds it should help clear it up. good luck

I would use some Melafix to treat the fish. It's an all natural medication and works highly well. Remember to just follow the directions on the bottle, and remove any carbon in the filter when treating the tank. You should notice a difference within 3-5 days when using Melafix.

Melafix - treats open wounds and sores.

Pimafix - treats parasites and fungus.

how long ago did you move.

it could be that the fish are flashing because your tank has went into a mini-cycle causing ammonia irritation. and the stringy things could be new bacteria forming
